Life Changing Words

To my daughters (and other dad's daughters),

I write to you these words as fatherly, pastoral encouragement because of the twists and turns that will happen in your young lives. Sometimes we get really off course. Do not lose heart or your faith.

During a season of regrets, repentance, and a low point in life, these words of comfort launched me on a trajectory that forever changed my life. It was an incredible turning point and rocket fuel for my soul. May these words encourage you at any point in life.

Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:34-39

My story is one of Jesus who gave me new life. His love changed my life. He is my story. It's why I would give you a hug at night, tuck you into bed, pray with you, and say, "Daddy loves you. Jesus loves you more." He does love you more.

The love and kindness of Jesus pursued me. His words of love created a U-turn in my life. He still pursues people. He pursues you. He will always pursue you. For nothing can separate you from His love.

My girls, trust Jesus' words and promises for you. And may His good news fan the flame of your faith at every age. May Jesus our Savior be your story too.

Love,
Dad
